Setup varies from location to location, but generally follows these rules:
- In enclosed spaces such as tunnels and alleys two sound sources should be placed inline on either side, one high and one low. The remaining sound source is placed on the ceiling, also inline with the others.
- In more open spaces, the sound sources should be placed as evenly as possible to surround those who walk through the installation. In certain locations with irregular features, sound sources may be attached so as to draw attention to how people navigate the place. For example, for the instance installed in the pedestrian path in Barnet I chose to secure a sound source to each of the barriers that force people to move their bodies in a certain way.
- Creative ZEN Stone Plus MP3 players with built-in speakers should be used unless too quiet, in which case louder speakers may be attached through the headphone jack.
- Creative ZEN Stone Plus MP3 players should be secured with white-coloured Blu-Tack.
